Role Description
This is a contract remote role for a 2D Animator at AstraValle. The 2D Animator will be responsible for tasks such as working closely with the designers and developers, and 2D rigging (puppet animation) for game development.
Responsibilities
Create high-quality 2D assets, characters, and animations optimized for Unity Engine. Collaborate with designers to ensure art aligns with gameplay and enhances the player experience. Work closely with the Art Director to maintain a consistent visual style and quality across all assets. Prepare and deliver assets in formats and resolutions optimized for Unity Engine. Iterate on art and animations based on feedback from the team and playtesting.
Qualifications
Strong Communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team setting. Strong portfolio showcasing 2D game art, including character conceptualizing, animations, and a clear understanding of animation principles (e.g., timing, weight, and fluidity). Proficiency in 2D animation tools such as Spine (preferred), Adobe Animate, etc. Experience preparing assets for Unity Engine, including optimization for performance and integration. Knowledge of game development processes is a plus
Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)
Familiarity with Unity’s 2D animation tools (e.g., Unity’s Animation System, Animator Controller). Experience working on shipped games, especially in the puzzle or platformer genre. Knowledge of version control systems like Github or Plastic SCM. Understanding of game development pipelines and workflows.
