Job Title
3D Mesh Reconstruction from Overlapping Point Clouds
Job Description
We are looking for a skilled 3D modeler or computational geometry specialist to help reconstruct a 3D mesh from several overlapping point clouds. The task must be completed using Python, and machine learning models should be utilized where appropriate. The task will involve the following steps:
Multi Point Cloud Confidence Analysis & Outlier Removal
In this step, you will analyze multiple point clouds to identify high-confidence regions and remove any outliers that may impact the reconstruction.
Geometry Completion
There may still be holes or occluded areas that are not captured. Based on the high-confidence regions, you will complete the 3D geometry, filling in any gaps or missing parts to create a fully reconstructed mesh.
Mesh Generation and Export
Finally, you will generate a mesh from the completed geometry and export it in standard file formats such as .obj, .stl, or .ply.
Required Skills
Experience with point cloud processing in Python using libraries like PCL, Open3D, and scikit-learn. Familiarity with 3D geometry reconstruction, mesh generation, and machine learning techniques is essential.
How to Apply
When applying, please provide the following information:
Task Estimation
An estimation of the time you would need to complete the task based on the steps outlined above.
Plan & Methodology
A brief plan on the methods you would use for each step, including any machine learning models you plan to apply (e.g., PointNet, Graph Convolutional Networks, etc.).
Relevant Experience
Additionally, please include any relevant experience or examples of similar work you have done with point cloud processing, geometry reconstruction, and machine learning in Python.
