Job Description

We are seeking a skilled 3D Rigging Artist to join our creative team. In this role, you will design and create high-quality character and object rigs for animation, ensuring smooth and realistic movements that bring our 3D models to life.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain rigs for 3D characters, creatures, and props, ensuring they are optimized for game production. Work with animators to ensure rigs function properly and support the animation process. Perform skinning and weight painting, ensuring correct deformation and realistic movement. Implement inverse kinematics (IK) and forward kinematics (FK) systems for character rigs. Collaborate with the art team to integrate rigs into the game engine (Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.). Troubleshoot rigging and skinning issues and make necessary adjustments to improve performance and quality.

Requirements

Min 3 years proven experience as a Rigging Artist in the video game industry or a similar field. Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of rigs (characters, creatures, vehicles, or props) for game production. Proficiency in industry-standard 3D software, such as Autodesk Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max. Experience with skinning, weight painting, and character deformation techniques. Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and knowledge of how rigs interact with them. Solid understanding of anatomy and character movement for organic and hard-surface models. Experience with scripting languages (Python, MEL, or similar) to automate rigging tasks. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams. A good understanding of game development pipelines and real-time performance considerations.
