Artistic Director

Disabled-led theatre company Vital Xposure is recruiting an Artistic Director.

Position Overview

We are looking for a visionary and inspirational artist/s, who wants to lead the next chapter of Vital Xposure’s artistic journey. An individual/s who has ambition and who wants to explore and push the boundaries of new artistic approaches and deliver high quality, accessible work.

For over a decade, we have made disabled-led, radical, political performance championing hidden stories and marginalised voices.

National Reach

Whilst we are based in London, we have national reach. We make national-touring, accessible work and position ourselves at the forefront of research and learning around disabled performance.

Current Opportunity

This is an exciting time for Vital Xposure and you will join the company in time to shape and develop its next National Portfolio Organisation application in June/July 2025.

Role Details

Contract type: Permanent / part time: 0.6 F/T equivalent. Salary: £49,595 – £54,678 pro-rata. Application deadline: Monday 17 February, at 12.00 midday.

Theatre Productions

Vital Xposure theatre productions blend cutting-edge performance with powerful storytelling rarely seen on stage. Recent work includes Quiet Rebels, that toured across nine regions to sold-out audiences and was recognised for its innovative integration of creative access in the dramaturgy and presentation.

Research and Development

Our pioneering VX Labs research programme explores innovation in access and recontextualises the disabled experience. VX Labs are delivered in collaboration with regional venues and academic partner Central School of Speech and Drama.

Talent Development Initiative

Wellspring, Vital Xposure’s talent development initiative showcases the next generation of disabled theatre-makers. From 2022-24, we were proud to support 16 disabled playwrights in partnership with various theatres.
