Job Description
We are seeking talented and passionate Episodic Designers (2D) for one of our new animated series. If you’re a team player with a passion for creating wonderful new worlds, we want you. Background and Character Designers are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities
Share ideas, collaborate, and work closely with the producers, creative leads, and designers through the production process to maintain the creative vision and quality of the series. Utilize key background and character designs from previous season(s) as a reference to create and paint new episodic designs in the style of the series. Work on art design and colour-styling as needed. Follow direction and feedback, and incorporate notes from Art Director, Director, and Supervisor as required. Communicate with other departments (Storyboard, Builds, etc.) to assess needs and contribute to a high-quality show. Manage time effectively to complete designs and revisions on time, and keep Production informed of progress and/or concerns. Participate in department meetings as required. Create materials and other artwork as needed for the studio.
Requirements
3+ years of professional experience as a Designer with a full portfolio of sample work in the field of 2D Animation/Episodic television. A strong and diverse portfolio that demonstrates your creativity and understanding of anatomy & proportions (character designer)/perspective & composition (background designer) and other design principles. Degree or diploma in fine arts or animation or equivalent. Expertise in Photoshop. Proficiency in Animate is a plus. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively under a strict deadline. Ability to work with people from different disciplines and cultures with varying degrees of knowledge, and to interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues and other staff members. Solid work ethic and a positive attitude. Must be a self-starter who thrives in a small, team-oriented environment.
About the Role
Full-time in-house position, to start in March/April for 6 months with a possible extension. All candidates must be currently based in the Vancouver area and entitled to work in Canada.
