Job Overview

Under general direction, the Pre-Press Artist & Imaging Specialist is responsible for accurately preparing high resolution electronic files for complete printed projects. In addition, they will consult with internal and external clients to ensure final production is completed accurately and on-time in support of Switch business goals and objectives. Should be proficient in computer graphic design programs and possesses thorough understanding of execution and productions of final art.

Essential Responsibilities

Develop and coordinate with Art and Creative Directors on photo imaging, manipulation, and retouch to achieve client request and product approval; interaction with other team members as back-up for overflow workload including the Creative Resource Manager. Supervise the production of electronic and/or physical proofs as required for approvals. Performs quality check of proofs when submitted by outside vendors and prior to final loading. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill levels in required software programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat and PowerPoint through on-line tutorials and manuals. Prepare pre-press electronic / digital files for printed materials and graphic design as required by project to produce high-resolution digital imaging, retouching and electronic illustration. Facilitate and manage external/3rd Party printing vendors when necessary. Understands and directs various needs like offset v. digital printing, spot color, foil stamp, die cuts, embossing, etc. Serve as an in-house Photoshop expert, utilizing the program for everything from high level image manipulation to a variety of basic digital pre-press functions, color-correction, design and creation of comps and die-lines for 3-D displays and other POS items. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Associate of Applied Science Degree in Graphic Arts or equivalent technical training. 8+ years in computer-based graphics and electronic pre-press production and printing, Illustrator and Photoshop. Minimum 5 years’ experience in digital graphics; Experience working in a Sales Promotion or Advertising agency environment. Knowledge of the printing process, printers, and other graphic services vendors including vehicle wraps. Ability to use a state-of-the-art computer with Creative Cloud, Photoshop, Illustrator, in Design, Acrobat, and Microsoft applications. Experience with preparing files for large format printing. Highly effective analytical, decision-making, and written/verbal communication skills. Ability to establish strong business relationships and work in a collaborative manner with business unit leaders. Ability to navigate between competing priorities, quickly identify and manage prioritization, be able to meet business deliverables.

Preferred Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts or related field Proficiency in PowerPoint, Adobe, Photoshop, and illustrator; design skills project management, leadership and aesthetic judgment.
