About the Role
As a Rigger / Animator at [Indie Games Startup Name], you’ll play a critical role in bringing our characters and environments to life. Your work will define how our characters move and interact with the game world, creating immersive experiences for players. If you’re passionate about breathing life into game worlds through animation and rigging, we’d love to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Rigging and Animation: Create and implement character rigs and animations that align with our game’s artistic style and gameplay needs.
Character and Creature Rigging: Work closely with the art and design teams to rig both humanoid characters and creatures, ensuring smooth movement and performance in-game.
Collaborative Workflow: Partner with 3D modelers, animators, and game designers to ensure the rigs and animations work seamlessly within the engine.
Animation Integration: Ensure all animations are integrated into the game engine, maintaining high quality and optimizing performance.
Iteration and Feedback: Participate in regular reviews and refine your work based on team feedback to ensure top-tier animations.
Stay Current: Keep up to date with the latest animation and rigging techniques to ensure we stay at the cutting edge of game development.
Requirements
A portfolio that demonstrates your skills in rigging and animation for characters and assets.
Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Blender, Maya, or 3ds Max for rigging and animation.
Experience creating flexible rigs for a variety of characters (humanoid and non-humanoid) and environments.
Strong understanding of character anatomy and movement to create realistic and engaging animations.
Experience with optimization techniques to ensure animations run smoothly in real-time.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.
Nice to Haves
Prior experience working in an indie game studio or startup environment.
Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine for animation and rig integration.
Experience with facial rigging and lip-sync animations.
Knowledge of physics-based or procedural animation techniques.
