About the Role

Are you passionate about bridging the gap between art and technology in game development? As a Technical Artist at our studio, you’ll be key in translating our creative vision into reality. Your work will ensure our game worlds look amazing and perform optimally, playing a direct role in the player’s experience. Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Development: Design, maintain, and optimize asset creation pipelines, ensuring a smooth workflow between artists and developers.
  • Shader Creation: Develop custom shaders and materials that enhance the visual storytelling of our game worlds.
  • Tool Development: Work closely with artists and engineers to create tools that improve the efficiency of art asset production and integration.
  • Asset Integration: Assist in the integration and optimization of art assets within Unity or Unreal, ensuring both aesthetics and performance are up to standard.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as the bridge between the art and programming teams, ensuring artistic quality and technical feasibility are always in harmony.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Solve artistic and technical challenges, from rigging to optimizing assets, ensuring that every detail contributes to a seamless player experience.
  • Ongoing Development: Stay updated on emerging technologies and techniques in the industry to keep our games innovative and visually stunning.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Technical Artist, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work in asset optimization, shader creation, or tool development.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software such as Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and familiarity with Unity or Unreal Engine.
  • A strong understanding of both artistic techniques and the technical aspects of game development, including performance optimization.
  • Experience in writing scripts or tools (e.g., Python, C#) to enhance production workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset to work across multiple disciplines.
  • Passion for video games and a desire to help shape unique and engaging game experiences.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience working in an indie game studio or startup environment.
  • Familiarity with rigging and animation pipelines.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of visual effects (VFX) for games.
