Your Mission in Funcom
Funcom Games is on the lookout for a passionate VFX Art Intern to join our creative team in Bucharest, Romania! As a VFX Art Intern, you’ll have the chance to bring worlds to life with stunning visual effects, crafting game-ready magic while making sure everything runs smoothly. This is your opportunity to learn, create, and grow alongside a team of talented game developers.
Impact in Your Position
Assist in creating new visual effects and variations for environments, characters, props, vehicles, and weapons.Balance artistic vision with technical constraints, adhering to technical budgets and industry standards to ensure exceptional execution.Identify and resolve bugs while optimizing VFX assets for performance and technical requirements.Stay up to date with industry best practices and evolving next-gen standards.Working effectively with designers, artists, and developers.
Requirements
A strong willingness to learn and a desire to improve your skills in VFX Art.Basic understanding of 3D art fundamentals, including effects, particles, textures, lighting, materials, and technical limitations in game development.Knowledge of Houdini and/or Embergen, Photoshop, 3ds Max, After Effects, or other 3D software, with an eagerness to expand your expertise.Strong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to work efficiently within deadlines.Creativity & artistic visionBachelor’s degree in a related field or currently pursuing a Master’s degree.
Ideal Attributes
Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), Unity, Niagara, Shuriken, or VFX Graph.Experience working with modular systems.Proficiency in Houdini and/or Embergen for real-time applications.A strong passion for gaming and game development beyond just art.
