Job Description
A British independent filmmaker is seeking a skilled Visual Effects Artist to create a highly realistic CGI crocodile for an upcoming live-action short film. This role involves producing approximately 90 seconds of visual effects, depicting a small crocodile as it emerges from a suitcase, walks along a beach, and swims into the sea. The project has already acquired a 2D rigged and animated model; however, the realism does not meet the required standard, so the selected artist will have the option to enhance the existing asset or start from scratch.
Film Details
This short film is a heartfelt comedic drama, intended for cinema and television release and to be entered into major international film festivals. Filmed on a Sony FX6 in 6K with cinematic lenses, the project demands a seamless integration of CGI into a high-resolution, narrative-driven film environment. The successful candidate must be capable of delivering photorealistic results and have demonstrable experience in creating high-quality VFX for film or television.
Requirements
Proven experience in VFX for film and/or television, with a strong portfolio. Ability to create or enhance photorealistic 3D animal models and animations. Proficiency in VFX software such as Blender, Maya, Houdini, or similar. Experience integrating CGI into live-action footage with realistic lighting and shadows. Capability to work from a provided 2D rigged model or recreate the asset if needed. Strong attention to detail and ability to match visual quality to cinematic footage. Availability to begin work immediately and deliver within the project timeline. Remote work acceptable.
