Job Description
I produce orthotic devices using 3D printing based on algorithmically generated designs. The models are edited using CAD software, currently Rodin CUBE 3D.
Problem Statement
For certain applications, I need to mirror an orthotic model (for example, from right to left). While this is possible in the CAD software by setting a plane and mirroring the model, the issue is that embedded text elements such as logos and labels also get mirrored and appear reversed on the new side.
Project Requirements
I am looking for a tool (script, plugin, or standalone program) that can:
• Mirror STL files, ideally along a selectable axis
• Automatically detect and reorient any text or logo so that it appears correctly (not reversed) on the mirrored model
• Export the correctly mirrored model as an STL file
Requirements
• Simple to use (for example, by selecting an axis or automatic mirroring)
• Maintains correct orientation of all text and logos
• Exports the result as a clean, usable STL file
