3D / 2D Generalist Artist - Fully Remote - Up to $150k - 3 month contract (Contract-to-hire) We are working with a major online gaming firm with major VC backing. They are looking for a versatile 3D/2D generalist artist who can own the full art pipeline - from concept to in-engine asset - and make their platform feel alive. Someone who combines serious artistic chops with the technical instinct to make things run beautifully on web and mobile. You'll create characters, environments, VFX, UI elements, and marketing visuals that aren't just eye candy - they're core to how players experience the product. A stunning animation means nothing if it tanks frame rates on a mid-tier laptop or stutters on a phone. You think about draw calls and poly counts by default, not as an afterthought. You use AI tools like Claude and Blender MCP as natural extensions of your workflow, not afterthoughts. Speed matters here, but never at the cost of craft. The role can be worked fully remote from anywhere in the United States. It is an initial 3-month contract that leads to a permanent contract. What you’ll doCreate 3D characters, environments, and props (model, texture, rig, animate)Build lightweight, high-impact VFX (particles, sprites, flipbooks)Storyboard and prototype animations, UI flows, and cinematic sequencesProduce 2D assets (concepts, UI, marketing visuals)Optimize for real-time (GLTF/GLB, LODs, texture atlases, performance-first mindset)Collaborate closely with engineers for seamless integrationUse AI tools (Claude, Blender MCP) to accelerate your workflow What they're looking forStrong Blender (or Maya/C4D/3ds Max) skills across modeling → animationSolid understanding of UVs, PBR workflows, and real-time optimizationGreat eye for animation, composition, and visual storytellingExperience shipping assets/products in real-time environmentsFast, adaptable, and ownership-drivenActively using AI in your creative pipeline (non-negotiable) BonusUnity / web 3D experience (Three.js, GLTF, Draco)Stylized art styles (toon/cel-shaded, hand-painted)VFX, shaders, or 2D pipelines (sprites/UI)Game industry experience or shipped titles If this looks role is of interest, please apply directly.
