BACKGROUND:

Mimms Museum of Technology and Art is doing an exhibit on touch screen, and we need an animated “engagement” screen to invite visitors to interact.

The goal

The goal is to tease the viewer with basic information and motion. We’re a museum, not a retail store, not an amusement parlor, so it needs to be just interesting enough to invite the visitor to touch he screen, but not distract from all the other exhibits on offer. The exhibit is about the Apple I, a very simple computer by today’s standards, without even a WYSIWYG interface. Yet it was also a sea change- a bridge between the hobbyist and mass marketed PC. So imagine an intro that uses words in motion, shallow 3D and relatively subdued colors. The motion is like a slo motion version the early video game Pong, or Tetris.

CREATIVE:

Attached is our color pallette for the exhibit. We use the bright colors only for accent, the screen abackground is black or one of the grays. The fun part of this assignment is to use the programming capabilities of your software to program motions that loop on different time periods, and overlap, so that the overall screen appears never to repeat. Also attached is a word doc with a list of text objects you can animate, overlap, intersect and blend.

Tech Specs:

This will be on a 27″ touch screen, 9:16 aspect ratio.
