We are a CIfA Registered Organisation with ISO 45001 & 9001:2008 certification. The Role In response to the increased demand for our services, we are seeking to expand our Graphics Team. Applications are invited for the position of Archaeological Illustrator to join our national team at Supervisor level. The role is a full-time, permanent position and will involve a combination of office-based and remote work. Applicants will be able to demonstrate some experience as an archaeological illustrator working within a commercial environment or graphics experience through another role in a commercial archaeology setting. In this role you will be producing high-quality digital images, with the purpose of conveying complex information using GIS and Adobe. As an illustrator you should also have familiarity with the techniques and conventions of archaeological survey, excavation records and artefact illustration. Some direct experience or familiarity with archaeological field work and post-excavation work is important. In this role, you will act as a champion for innovative graphics techniques and high standards of data management, and work as part of a team to deliver high-quality graphics and reports. While not essential, experience in photography and digital photo processing, photogrammetry, CAD and 3D modelling would be advantageous. Occasionally you may be required to undertake on-site work, which may require overnight stays: accommodation and subsistence will be provided, along with transport to and from site. Essential About You Experience in using Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and PhotoshopExperience in using GIS (particularly ArcGIS Pro or QGIS)Demonstrable skill in artefact illustrationAble to manage multiple complex projects at once and manage your time effectivelyA sound knowledge and understanding of archaeological fieldwork involving excavation, topographic and historic building surveyExperience of producing high quality graphics to publication standardFamiliarity with heritage data standards and terminologyA high level of IT literacy is essential, including the use of Microsoft Office Desirable Experience of reconstruction drawingExperience of photography and photogrammetryExperience of 3D modelling software (e.g. Blender, 3DS Max)Membership of CIfA (work towards this will be required when in post)Full, clean driving license You should also be able to demonstrate an ability to work well as part of a team, with a varied and demanding workload. Strong inter-personal skills are required, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to staff members at all levels of the company as well as clients. It is vital that you are a good team member with effective time management, problem solving and organisational skills as well as a positive and enthusiastic approach to archaeology. You should be self-motivated and able to work independently and under your own initiative and have a positive approach to team leadership.
