About the Role We are looking for an aspiring Junior Lighting Artist to join our team onsite in Manchester. In this entry-level role, you will help us raise the bar for the gaming industry by bringing "Cinematic Sci-Fi Realism" to life across the vast solar systems of Star Citizen. As a Junior Lighting Artist, you will be a key part of the team responsible for lighting the diverse locations of Star Citizen. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills while working on everything from moody space stations to vibrant, neon-filled cityscapes. Create believable, cinematic lighting scenarios for in-game locations under the guidance of our senior team.Learn how to ensure high-quality lighting works seamlessly within defined real-time rendering budgets.Work closely with the Lighting Lead and Art Director to help realise the project's artistic vision.Collaborate with other departments to gain a holistic understanding of how lighting impacts the player experience. What do we expect from our Junior Lighting Artists? A genuine drive to create inspirational and atmospheric lighting.A basic understanding of material shading, physically based rendering (PBR), and how different materials impact a final frame.A budding knowledge of cinematic lighting techniques and the technical curiosity to learn more.An ability to use various reference materials to challenge yourself and improve your craft.Experience (which can include personal or academic projects) in creating high-quality real-time lighting scenarios.A desire to be part of a passionate, communicative team.
