About Us
We’re a team of developers and industry veterans on a mission to build something truly unique: a new fantasy/sci-fi IP that blends fast-paced multiplayer combat with the depth of MMORPG mechanics. Our goal is to push the boundaries of competitive genres by creating a more accessible, yet deeply engaging PvP experience. Beyond the game itself, we’re building a studio where work/life balance, creativity, and shared success are at the core. This is a startup/volunteer (initially unpaid) opportunity with long-term equity/profit-sharing potential. If you’ve ever dreamed of being a founding member of a studio, this is your chance to help shape a world from the ground up.
Your Role
As our Senior Environment Artist, you’ll play a pivotal role in defining the look, feel, and atmosphere of our worlds. You’ll not only design stunning environments but also help shape our workflows, style guides, and overall visual direction.
What You’ll Do
Lead the environment art team: provide mentorship, creative direction, and constructive feedback. Design, model, and texture immersive fantasy/sci-fi environments that enhance gameplay. Create materials, shaders, and lighting in Unreal Engine 5 that bring our worlds to life. Collaborate closely with the Art Director and other teams to ensure visual quality and consistency. Develop and maintain style guides to unify the art direction. Optimize assets for performance without sacrificing visual fidelity. Stay current with industry trends in environment art, lighting, and materials. Contribute ideas in creative brainstorming sessions to solve artistic challenges.
Skills We’re Looking For
Unreal Engine 5 expertise with strong focus on environment workflows. Strong portfolio showcasing environment design in fantasy and sci-fi settings. Mastery of modeling, texturing, and lighting for real-time environments. Deep understanding of PBR workflows and material creation. Skilled in creating compelling lighting setups that drive mood and gameplay clarity. Experience crafting stylized or realistic shaders/materials that fit within a cohesive art style. Familiarity with industry-standard 3D tools (Maya, Blender, 3ds Max, Substance, etc.). Great communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
Bonus Points
Leadership or mentoring experience. Technical background in optimization and shader development. Experience on large-scale projects, MMOs, or multiplayer environments.
The Opportunity
This role starts as volunteer (unpaid) while we work toward securing funding and publishing partnerships. Once funded, this will transition into a long-term paid position, with opportunities for equity and/or profit sharing depending on your contributions and experience. Interested? Send us a message or apply via email, we’d love to see your portfolio and talk about how you could be part of building something groundbreaking with us.
