Job Description

As a Technical Artist, you’ll act as the bridge between art and development, ensuring that 3D assets and animations are seamlessly integrated, optimized, and visually polished inside Unity. You’ll collaborate closely with 3D Artists, Animators, Level Designers, and Developers to maintain high visual quality while keeping performance smooth for multiplayer gameplay. You will also contribute shaders and simple VFX to enhance the cooking-themed, stylized, semi-realistic environments.

Key Responsibilities

Import, set up, and maintain 3D assets and prefabs inside Unity. Optimize models, textures, and scenes for performance across PC, Console, Switch and Mobile. Implement and manage LODs, colliders, light baking, and occlusion settings. Collaborate with Animators to integrate and polish character and NPC animations. Develop and refine shaders for stylized effects (e.g., food cooking transitions, lighting moods). Create simple VFX (e.g., steam, sparks, money effects etc.) to enhance atmosphere. Act as the main link between the art and programming teams, ensuring visual fidelity and technical stability.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Technical Artist in Unity (indie or professional projects). Strong understanding of optimization workflows (poly count, draw calls, batching, texture compression). Proficiency with Unity’s material, lighting, and prefab systems. Basic shader knowledge (Shader Graph or HLSL/ShaderLab). Familiarity with VFX systems (particle systems, Unity VFX Graph). Ability to collaborate across departments (art, design, code). Good eye for visual quality while maintaining performance.

Nice to Have

Experience working with multiplayer or co-op games. Familiarity with stylized art direction. Prior experience in remote indie teams. Scripting experience (C# or Python) for small tools/automation.
