Portfolio Tips by Discipline

Technical Artists

Show shader graphs, tool scripts, and optimised mobile-ready assets. Tencent spans mobile and PC, so demonstrate both real-time performance optimisation and high-fidelity shading. Include Unreal Engine and Unity pipeline examples.

Gameplay Animators

Lead with in-engine demos showing gameplay responsiveness. State Machine logic, blendspace setups, and motion capture cleanup are priorities. Honor of Kings and PUBG set the quality bar for fluid, readable character movement.

VFX Artists

Include real-time VFX breakdowns in Niagara or equivalent systems. Show skill effects for action games, environmental ambience, and UI-integrated effects. Houdini-to-engine pipeline knowledge is valued at senior levels.

Motion Capture Interns (UK)

Tencent's UK office runs a dedicated mocap studio. Show basic mocap cleanup, retargeting, and locomotion system integration. Highlight any project-based animation work from university or personal projects.
