Continuing our growth trajectory from startup days, EarthLabs is excited to expand its team and is currently seeking a dynamic and talented Video Editor / Motion Designer to join us. ABOUT THE ROLE As a Video Editor / Motion Designer, you will play a crucial role in transforming raw footage into polished, engaging content for various platforms. You will edit a diverse range of videos, including short-form content for social media, podcasts, business interviews, and long-form discussions (See examples: https://www.youtube.com/user/ceocafilm/videos and https://www.youtube.com/@miningdotcom), while enhancing content with motion graphics and animated visual elements to elevate storytelling. Working closely with the production team and cross-functional departments, you’ll ensure that each video aligns with brand standards and is delivered on time, managing multiple projects with quick turnarounds – often same-day or next-day – without compromising quality. This is an on-site, permanent position based in Toronto, Ontario. WE WILL TRUST YOU TO… (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES) Edit Video Footage: Edit a wide range of video content, from short-form social videos and podcasts to business reports, interviews, and long-form discussions.Integrate Graphics & Motion Elements: Design and incorporate visual elements such as text overlays, lower thirds, transitions, and motion graphics to enhance storytelling and engagement.Ensure Quick Turnaround: Manage multiple daily editing projects and deliver high-quality work on time. editing projects daily without compromising on quality.Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the production team and managers to align on project goals and maintain brand consistency.Follow Brand Guidelines: Apply established visual and editorial guidelines to ensure a consistent, professional look across all content.Enhance Storytelling: Add and refine effects, sound design, colour correction, and visual effects to improve narrative flow and viewer engagement.Manage Content Library: Organize and maintain an up-to-date digital content library, ensuring assets are properly tagged and easily retrievable.Stay Updated: Stay current on video content trends, tools, editing techniques, and emerging tools to continuously improve content quality. Ad Hoc Tasks: Undertake additional ad hoc assignments and duties as assigned. YOU WILL NEED TO BE/BRING… (QUALIFICATIONS) Experience: 5+ years of proven experience as a video editor, with a strong portfolio demonstrating both short-form and long-form contentEducation: Post-secondary in media production, communications or a related field is an asset.Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and/or Avid Media Composer, with strong expertise in Adobe After Effects or similar motion graphics tools.Graphics & Motion Skills: Ability to create and integrate basic to intermediate motion graphics, including animated text, titles, and visual enhancements.Attention to Detail: Exceptional eye for details and the ability to produce polished, professional videos.Soft Skills: Strong time management, organizational skills, interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.Creativity & Technical Skills: Creative approach to editing combined with a strong technical understanding of video production.
