About Summer Camp MapsSummer Camp Maps is a creative division of TicTacToe Marketing that specializes in designing custom illustrated maps for summer camps across the United States. Our maps help camps tell their story visually, highlighting cabins, activity areas, lakes, trails, and landmarks in a fun, engaging, and easy-to-read illustrated style.

Each map is designed to capture the unique personality of the camp while remaining functional for campers, parents, and visitors.

The RoleWe are looking for a talented freelance illustrator/designer to create custom illustrated camp maps in a vector format. The ideal artist has experience illustrating environments, landscapes, buildings, or maps and can translate real-world camp layouts into visually engaging illustrated maps.

Artists will work from aerial maps, site plans, and photo references to illustrate camp buildings, natural features, roads, and activity areas.

Important RequirementAll illustrations must be created in Adobe Illustrator and delivered as vector artwork. This allows the maps to scale for different uses including print, signage, websites, and brochures.

ResponsibilitiesCreate custom illustrated camp maps in Adobe IllustratorDesign all artwork as clean, organized vector illustrationsIllustrate camp features such as:Cabins and buildingsLakes, rivers, and forestsSports fields, ropes courses, amphitheaters, etc.Roads and trailsWork from reference materials such as satellite imagery, property maps, and photosCollaborate with our team through 2-3 revision roundsDeliver final files that are print-ready and fully vectorized

QualificationsStrong illustration and design skills, particularly environments and buildingsProficiency in Adobe Illustrator (required)Experience with the Adobe Creative SuiteAbility to create clean vector illustrations suitable for scalingStrong attention to detailAbility to follow reference materials while maintaining an engaging illustrated styleExperience with map illustration or architectural illustration is a plus

StyleWe are looking for a warm, welcoming illustrated style that feels fun and approachable while still being clear and easy to read. We are looking for a style with depth, not flat designed maps.

Maps should be:Visually engagingEasy to navigateClean and well-organizedTrue to the camp’s layout while maintaining an illustrated style

General Project ScopeTypical projects include:1-2 illustrated camp maps2–3 rounds of revisionsFinal delivery in Adobe Illustrator (.AI) vector format & PDF

Maps typically include 20–40 buildings and landmarks, along with landscape elements like forests, lakes, and trails.
