Comic Artist Jobs FAQ

How do I find comic artist jobs?

ArtBlast curates comic artist jobs daily from publishers, webtoon platforms, games companies, and studios worldwide. Subscribe to get 10-60+ opportunities in your inbox every morning with direct apply links.

What is the average comic artist salary?

Salaried comic artists earn roughly $52K-$72K mid-level in the US, with senior roles $72K-$108K. A large share of comic work is paid per page or per project instead, so rates vary widely by publisher.

Do I need to draw and colour, or can I specialise?

You can specialise. Comics split into pencilling, inking, colouring and lettering, and many artists work in only one. Specialising well is usually easier to get hired for than being average at all four.

What should a comic portfolio show?

Sequential pages, not pin-ups. Editors need to see you tell a story across panels, keep a character consistent, and draw backgrounds. Five strong pages beat twenty single illustrations.

Are there remote comic artist jobs?

Yes. Comics is one of the most remote and freelance heavy fields we list. ArtBlast includes work model info on every listing so you can filter by remote, hybrid, or on-site.
